Terms of Service
These terms apply when you buy or use Fire Alarm Academy. Buying the course or using this website means you accept them.
Last updated February 2026
1. What you are buying
Fire Alarm Academy is an online video course about fire alarm systems in Canada. The course is sold as a one-time purchase of $250 CAD which grants a single person lifetime access to the course content, including future updates to that course, for as long as the course remains available. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.
2. This is education, not certification
This course does not certify, license, accredit, or qualify you for anything. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or recognised by the Canadian Fire Alarm Association, the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario, the Office of the Fire Marshal, ULC Standards, or any other certifying or regulatory body. It is not preparation for any certification exam.
In Ontario, work involving the testing, inspection or alteration of fire alarm systems requires a program or course acceptable to the Fire Marshal under Article 1.2.1.2 of Division C of the Ontario Fire Code. Completing this course does not satisfy that requirement. You remain responsible for holding the licences, qualifications and authorisations your jurisdiction requires for the work you perform.
3. Accuracy and your professional responsibility
Course and guide content is provided for general education. Codes and standards are amended, and adopted editions differ between jurisdictions. Nothing here replaces the actual CAN/ULC standards, the Canadian Electrical Code, the applicable building or fire code, the manufacturer's installation instructions, the stamped design drawings, or the direction of the authority having jurisdiction. Where our content conflicts with any of those, those govern. Always verify against the edition your AHJ has adopted.
4. Your account and licence
Access is granted to one person. You may not share, resell, sublicense, or transfer your account credentials, and you may not download, record, re-upload, or redistribute course videos or materials. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. We may suspend or terminate access, without refund, for credential sharing, redistribution of content, attempts to circumvent access controls, or abusive conduct.
5. Payment
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details. Prices are in Canadian dollars. Applicable taxes, if any, are shown at checkout. We may change the price of the course for future purchasers at any time; a price change never affects access you have already bought.
6. Refunds
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. The full terms are on our refund policy page and form part of these terms.
7. Free content
The guides, glossary and other free resources on this site are provided as-is for reading. You may link to them and quote short excerpts with attribution. You may not republish them in full, or use them to train a competing commercial product, without written permission.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the platform available continuously but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, hosting incidents, and third-party outages can interrupt access. If the course is permanently discontinued, we will give notice and a reasonable window to complete your study.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the course or this website is limited to the amount you paid us. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from work performed, installed, verified, inspected or certified by you or anyone else. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under applicable consumer protection legislation that cannot lawfully be limited.
10. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version, and continued use after a change means acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there.
